Water LA worked with Los Nietos’ Garden Club, holding workshops to help students and staff learn about native plants, remove turf, place stones, and put plants in the ground. This partnership offered an invaluable educational opportunity for the students, getting the chance to expand their knowledge outside the classroom. The students are excited to be able to see the plants they selected and planted mature and establish into a beautiful native plant garden. The school district’s superintendent loved the project so much he looked forward to purchasing new gloves, hand shovels and watering cans for the Garden Club.

Environmental Impact

With the implementation of 4 parkway basins, Los Nietos Middle School is helping mitigate local flood risks, improve water supply & quality, sequester carbon, and support healthy soils & native habitat!
